CY Login and Tax For All: A Step-by-Step Access Guide for Individuals

4 min read

Start by separating three things: your CY Login profile, access to your Tax For All (TFA) record, and your tax identification number. Creating a sign-in profile is not the same task as registering a taxpayer. Use the correct personal profile, complete any required identification and check the taxpayer record before making a submission.

Procedural sources checked on 28 October 2026. This guide concerns adult individuals. Companies, estates and other represented persons require their own applicable access and authority checks.

Step 1: check whether you already have a profile

Look for your existing CY Login registration details before opening a second profile. The government help page confirms that existing Ariadne credentials can be used. Where access has been lost, use the official username or password recovery route first.

Step 2: choose the individual registration route

Open the official CY Login website and select Sign up when a new profile is actually required. The registration page distinguishes “For Citizens” from “For companies and organizations”. The former is the route presented for natural persons; do not use the company profile merely because your enquiry concerns work or a business interest.

Step 3: activate the profile promptly

Use an email address you can access. After profile creation, open the activation email and complete activation. The official help page states that a profile not activated within 15 minutes is deleted automatically. Allow time to complete this stage in one sitting and check the junk folder if the message is missing.

Step 4: establish the correct identification route

Profile identification links the CY Login account with the individual’s identity. The official guidance offers electronic identification through supported eBanking access, a video-call route for holders of a Cyprus identity card, or an appointment at an identification centre. Check the eligibility and documents for the route you choose.

For the in-person adult route, the published guidance identifies the completed CYL5-NP form and an original qualifying identity document. It lists a Cyprus civil ID, a residence permit showing the Alien Registration Number and photograph, or an EU citizen registration certificate showing the registration number and photograph. Do not assume that a passport alone meets that particular list.

The online video-call route is not presented as a universal option for every foreign passport holder. Someone with only overseas identity documents should clarify the available identification route before making travel or submission plans.

Step 5: protect access and recovery details

Follow the current two-factor authentication instructions and keep recovery information secure. Enter passwords and one-time codes only in the official service you intended to use. Do not give an adviser your recovery code as a substitute for a proper authorisation arrangement.

Step 6: open Tax For All and select CY Login

Open the official TFA portal and choose its CY Login sign-in option. Follow the Tax Department’s current account-linking instructions. Keep any existing Cyprus tax number available and confirm that you reach the right taxpayer record, rather than assuming that creation of a CY Login profile has created a new tax registration.

Step 7: resolve a mismatch before filing

Compare the displayed name and taxpayer details with your existing records. Stop if another taxpayer is displayed, an existing tax number is not recognised or a new-registration screen appears when you already have a Cyprus tax number. Describe that precise issue to the relevant official support channel before creating a duplicate registration.

Keep a note of the service used, the date and the exact error message. A screenshot supplied through an appropriate secure channel should show the problem without exposing passwords, verification codes or unrelated personal data.

Step 8: complete the separate task you came to do

Once access is resolved, return to the actual task: an IBAN request, a registration, a return or a message. Record its submission outcome separately. Account activation, successful login and tax-document submission are different milestones; confirming one does not establish the others.

Troubleshooting without starting again

  • Forgotten credentials: use the existing-profile recovery process.

  • Identification incomplete: check the current identification route and supporting evidence.

  • Correct login, missing tax record: raise an account-linking or access enquiry with the Tax Department.

  • Company, deceased person or represented taxpayer: use the specific official guidance and establish the representative’s authority.

  • A deadline is approaching: report the access problem promptly and verify the deadline separately. Do not assume an access enquiry grants an extension.

Questions clients commonly ask

Is CY Login the same as TFA?

No. CY Login is the government identity and access service; TFA is the Tax Department portal you are trying to use.

Will opening a profile give me a Cyprus tax number?

Treat profile creation and tax registration as separate procedures. Check your existing registration before applying for a new number.

Can my accountant use my password?

The safer approach is the appropriate authorised representative or tax-agent arrangement. Do not share a personal login to bypass it.

Can a foreign resident verify by video call?

Check the current eligibility conditions. The adult video-call route described in the official help is for holders of a Cyprus identity card.

Individual and company records are separate

For the wider registration context, read first-year tax residence and registration. A company needs its own authority and access review; see the separate company tax-registration guide.
