Cyprus Immigration Medical Tests: Pink Slip, Category F and Investor Residence

In brief: Do not book a generic Cyprus medical-test package before identifying the exact residence route and filing date. From 1 September 2026, relevant Category A–F Immigration Permit applications require specified original blood tests conducted abroad and a chest X-ray from the country of origin and/or last lawful residence, subject to the official exemption. Do Cyprus immigration medical tests always require a dermatologist and venereologist?
No universal rule should be stated in that form.
A doctor practising in Cyprus must be registered in the Cyprus Medical Register, and tests should be carried out through appropriately authorised clinicians and laboratories. A dermatologist and venereologist may be clinically relevant to the assessment or certification of a sexually transmitted infection result, but the immigration authority's current checklist controls:
which tests are required;
where they must be performed;
who must issue or certify them;
whether legalisation or translation is needed; and
how recent the documents must be.
A respected Cyprus clinic cannot cure a legal defect where the route requires an original test conducted abroad.
The new Category A-F rule from 1 September 2026
The Cyprus Migration Department announced that applications for Immigration Permits under Categories A--F submitted from 1 September 2026 must include:
original blood-test results conducted abroad confirming that the applicant and dependants do not suffer from Hepatitis B;
Hepatitis C;
HIV;
syphilis; and
an original chest X-ray for tuberculosis screening issued in the country of origin and/or last country of lawful residence.
The documents must be duly certified or legalised unless a relevant bilateral agreement provides an exemption.
The Department also states that the tests need not be submitted again where the applicant already holds a Cyprus temporary residence permit, the required tests were previously submitted and the results remain in the administrative file.
This announcement materially changes the practical advice for a new Category F application after the effective date. Booking the entire package in Cyprus could waste time and money.
What should a Category F applicant do?
A prudent sequence is:
Confirm that Category F is the correct substantive route.
Confirm the intended submission date.
Obtain the current official checklist and application form.
Identify the country of origin and last lawful residence.
Ask the competent authority or Cyprus lawyer which legalisation route applies.
Book the specified blood tests and chest X-ray with appropriate providers abroad.
Ensure every result matches the passport name, date of birth and document number.
Complete Apostille, consular legalisation or applicable exemption analysis.
Arrange an official translation where required.
Keep originals protected and scan complete colour copies.
Check whether previous Cyprus temporary-residence tests remain in the administrative file.
Do not file until the medical documents and wider Category F evidence form one coherent application.

What about Pink Slip medical tests?
The temporary visitor residence permit commonly called a Pink Slip is not the same as a Category F Immigration Permit. Use the current visitor or VIS checklist that applies to the applicant, family member and filing type.
Do not assume that:
a test used for a previous permit remains current;
Category A-F overseas rules automatically govern the Pink Slip;
a Cyprus clinic can decide the legal validity period;
an insurer's or agent's checklist is the official checklist; or
one family member's tests cover all dependants.

What about the Cyprus "Golden Visa"?
"Golden Visa" is a marketing expression. The official Cyprus route is the expedited Immigration Permit for investors under Regulation 6(2). It is distinct from Category F, even though both are forms of permanent residence and may use some common application documents.

A property purchase alone does not establish medical-document compliance, and a test prepared for Category F should not be assumed to satisfy the investor route without checking.
Why provider registration and document control still matter
Where the applicable route permits or requires Cyprus-based testing, use providers whose professional and laboratory status can be verified. The file should show:
correct applicant identity;
test name and methodology where relevant;
specimen and result dates;
clinician or laboratory details;
signature and stamp where required;
original result rather than an informal screenshot;
translation and legalisation where applicable; and
a clear link between every dependant and the application.
The clinical provider establishes the medical result. The lawyer checks whether the document fits the immigration route. Those roles should not be blurred.
An anonymised composite case study
A family preparing a post-September Category F application had booked a Cyprus clinic package after reading an older relocation checklist. The current Migration Department announcement required the Category A-F tests to be conducted abroad. The appointments were cancelled before payment, the correct overseas tests and legalisation were organised, and the Cyprus filing date was adjusted. This is a composite illustration and not an account of an identifiable client.

Frequently asked questions
Can Category F medical tests be done in Cyprus after 1 September 2026?
The official announcement requires the specified tests to be conducted abroad for relevant Category A-F applications submitted from that date, subject to the stated exemption. Check for any later official change before relying on this.
Must a dermatologist sign the syphilis result?
The official route and document specification control. Use an appropriately registered clinician or laboratory, but do not invent a universal specialty requirement not stated by the authority.
Are Pink Slip and Category F tests the same?
Not necessarily. They are different residence routes with separate checklists.
Is the investor permit the same as Category F?
No. Regulation 6(2) investor permanent residence and Category F are distinct routes.
Can old tests be reused?
For Category A-F, the June 2026 announcement contains a limited exemption where required tests were already submitted for an existing temporary permit and remain in the administrative file. The authority must confirm that the facts fit.
