How to Register or Change Your IBAN in Cyprus Tax For All

4 min read

Since 5 October 2026, the standard route for registering or changing the bank account used for payments to you by the Tax Department is a request through Tax For All (TFA), signed in using CY Login. Prepare the current TD2008 and a bank-issued IBAN certificate. The account must be in the intended beneficiary’s name. This is the refund/payment-receipt account, not an instruction to debit tax from your bank account.

Procedural sources checked on 28 October 2026. The submission procedure has been in effect since 5 October 2026; the announcement does not instruct every taxpayer to replace an already correct IBAN.

Before you start

  • Confirm whose tax record and payment are involved: you personally, a company or another entity.

  • Have access to the correct CY Login profile and the relevant TFA taxpayer record.

  • Obtain a legible IBAN certificate issued by the bank, identifying the account holder and IBAN.

  • Use the current TD2008 form linked by the Tax Department, rather than an old attachment from a previous application.

Step 1: identify the beneficiary

Check the name on the tax record against the bank certificate. Do not put a director’s personal account into a company’s request merely because that person controls the company. Where the proposed account is joint, overseas or connected with an estate, clarify acceptability for that beneficiary before submitting.

Step 2: check access before collecting the final pack

Open the official TFA portal and use CY Login for the new procedure. Confirm that the account takes you to the intended taxpayer record. A successful sign-in on its own does not establish that you have selected the correct person or entity.

For profile activation, identity checks and access problems, follow our CY Login and Tax For All access guide before submitting bank details.

Step 3: prepare TD2008 and the bank certificate

Complete the current electronic form carefully. Compare the beneficiary name and every character of the IBAN with the bank-issued certificate. Keep the original files and use clear filenames so the form and its supporting certificate cannot be confused with another client’s or company’s documents.

Step 4: submit the request through TFA

Follow the IBAN request route in the current official instructions while signed in through CY Login. Attach the completed form and bank certificate. Check that both attachments are present and readable before the final submission. Use the instructions applicable on your submission date, not a saved email procedure.

From 5 October 2026, an ordinary request sent without the required CY Login connection, including by email, will not be accepted. Emailing a signed form is not a substitute for the new standard route.

Step 5: retain evidence and follow up on the same request

Keep the submission acknowledgement or reference, the date and copies of the exact attachments. Check for any follow-up request from the Tax Department. An uploaded file or a saved draft is not evidence of final submission, and a submission acknowledgement is not proof that a refund has been approved or paid.

For a chaser, identify the original reference and the issue requiring clarification. Avoid creating competing requests with different bank details while the first request is unresolved.

The narrow exception for entities unable to obtain CY Login

The announcement permits a different route only where an entity objectively cannot obtain CY Login because identification of that entity is not possible. The request is still made through TFA, but without a CY Login connection, using a duly completed and signed TD2008-S and the bank-issued IBAN certificate.

This exception does not cover an entity that simply has not yet arranged CY Login. A forgotten password or delayed account setup should not be treated as evidence of eligibility for the exception.

When TAXISnet still displays the old IBAN

Keep the bank-detail request and your tax-return filing as separate tasks. If TAXISnet shows an older IBAN, retain the TFA submission reference and ask the Tax Department to confirm the record and any action needed. Do not assume that a pending bank-detail request extends a return-filing deadline.

Questions clients commonly ask

Do I need to change an IBAN that is already correct?

The notice changes how registration and amendment requests are submitted. It does not itself direct every taxpayer to submit a fresh request.

Can I use my spouse’s or adviser’s account?

The stated requirement is an account in the beneficiary’s name. Do not assume that another person’s account is acceptable.

Is there a guaranteed completion time?

No processing time is stated in the notice reproduced for this guide. Ask about an outstanding request using its reference rather than assuming a fixed turnaround.

Should I wait for a tax refund before checking access?

Our practical recommendation is to resolve access and account-name issues before a payment becomes time-sensitive.

A final five-point check

  • Correct taxpayer and beneficiary.

  • Correct CY Login route, or a genuinely applicable and documented exception.

  • Current form and bank-issued certificate.

  • Exact IBAN comparison and readable attachments.

  • Submission evidence retained and subsequent queries checked.
